AGORA Association was established in Izmir in 2017 by a group of artists, lawyers and academicians with the aim to enhance a better understanding of the problems of disadvantaged groups in the framework of social exclusion and develop right-based protection mechanisms. We seek the promotion and protection of rights of disadvantaged groups as well as the promotion, protection and realization of their economic, social and cultural rights. In order to achieve these goals, Agora organizes seminars, workshops, and meetings, prepares reports and does researches, cooperates with civil society organizations and initiatives, and seeks to actively encourage debates in society with the aim to achieve a positive social impact.
Our works are driven by the vision of a society in which collectives of various identities can peacefully live together in equality and freedom, respect for each other’s rights. Members and volunteers focus on refugee rights, human rights, cultural studies and gender equality by constituting working groups.
The works of the AGORA now circles around these areas:
- Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
- Human rights education
- Refugee Rights
- Sexual and gender based violence
- Community journalism
- Arts
